Hi Kc,

I'm afraid that the Domitian sestertius is a cast fake, probably then tooled on the reverse to enhance details. Look at the Domitian's hair: they are very foggy and confused, not in line with the conservation level for the coin. At the reverse look at the dotted line at the bottom left, the dots are a unique line, melted, typical sign of cast. Look also at the German's arm: it seems a snake not an arm. Compare the coin with analogous authentic ones: you will see that the German's arms are very different. Look also at the shield, it seems disappearing in the left side: another incoherence if compared with authentic coins.
It's always important to make the necessary comparisons before buying a rare coin on Ebay, it's important to have a good library, otherwise the chances to buy a forgery are getting higher and higher.

The sestertius looks authentic to me, not cast and not tooled, as I've already said on other lists.

Big respect for your experience Curtis but still this remain a cast for me, maybe then tooled to enhance some details. I've never seen a snake arm for the German, all the examples in Cayon and online have some angle between arm, forearm and wrist. Here it's a S. Also the hair in the obverse are in different condition than the other side and very unclear, the dotted border in the bottom-left reverse is melted as a unique line.
